My Amazon renewal date is coming up. We’ve been debating cancelling our Prime membership for a while now. Like Paul mentioned, we buy mostly crap we don’t really need, the 2 days shipping just makes the urge to spend money on stuff we don’t need easier to give into, we could be buying locally, and $140 is a lot of money, I’m not rich, that $140 could be put to other use that’s more important that Amazon like bills, groceries or saving it. So I cancelled it this morning. I had to go through 3 screens before cancelling. The last screen, which made it even easier to cancel, offered a monthly plan at the bottom was a link for are you a student for a student rate and are you on government assistance a rate for that. How vampiric will they stoop to get you on the hook to subscribe.

So we’re going to be part of the "control group" of society that doesn’t have a Prime membership lol. See how long we can go without it, first world problems, and go back to when you just waited like a normal person for items to be shipped to you.

Anyone else here not subscribed to Prime?

I was once a member of Prime, then cancelled. I really haven’t done the math, so I don’t know if that was wise or not. All I know is, this weekend I need to go get a spool of solder … and for a change I’m going to go to my local hardware store to get it.

I tried Amazon Prime several years ago, then canceled because I did not use it enough to justify paying for all those services I did not use or need.

I ordered two items I needed Tuesday February 1, 2022. the estimated delivery date was originally set for Saturday February 5, 2022, for one item and Monday February 7, 2022, for the other item. Both items arrived in the same box on Wednesday February 2, 2022 (the day after I placed my order).

With that quality of delivery service combined with the fact that I do not use or want the other Prime! services (video, music, etc.), why would I waste my money on Prime!?

My2Cents,

Ernie

My family does use prime video and being that we can ship stuff to our son on his credit card using our prime account is useful.

As Paul complains about the I78 slush pile due to warehouse central

did he consider that the lower costs he found so attractive for his moving

there is made possible by warehouse central underwriting the tax base.

In my part of NY the closing of Indian Point because it a possible terror

threat is removing more that half of the towns tax revenue ,while the

shutdown plant is still radioactive and still a possible threat while removing the benefit it provided .

Out on the tip of Long Island is the Shoreham nuclear power plant

that the government allowed to be built and low power tested then

decided there is no way to evacuate the area so it was never allowed to

operate
