Episode 1: Kicking Off The New Podcast From Ignite

first-ring-daily-frd-hero

At Ignite this week, Paul and I launched our new podcast, First Ring Daily. The podcast will be happening every day starting October 3rd, Monday through Friday, with shows Monday through Thursday being available to premium users and on Friday, we will record it live and it will be open to everyone.

The Friday episodes and live events will be posted to the YouTube account below and we will also create an RSS feed audio-only listeners too. For the premium aspect of the podcast, we are working to create the protected RSS feed and will share that in the near future.

If you are at Ignite, we will be recording episode two from the Microsoft podcast center that is located in the B-C connector tomorrow at 1 P.M. There is seating for an audience (several people showed up yesterday) and would love to have you come watch our new show.

This is the latest part of the new Thurrott Premium experience that we are releasing this fall and as you hopefully saw earlier this week, the new comment system is live and the forums are now online.

Will see if they can fix that today, Microsoft is recording it, not us, so we can’t adjust post production.

After we are done at ignite, we will have more control of the audio etc and will make sure it works perfectly.

Yes, the sound was very quiet. I had been watching an IT Pro TV course and had the player volume up full and the audio at about 20 on my notebook, with this podcast, with the player volume up full, I needed to boos the notebook volume to 70…

Great first episode guys! The audio was a little low for Paul, but that wasn’t your doing as I suspect Microsoft recorded this for you. Hope to see this on PocketCast someday!

If you look at Pauls mic its too short for him, ofcourse they could have adjusted by lowering brad and upping pauls.

OK, my critique for what it’s worth. Brad, last week I posted that I hope this podcast is as bright and breezy as The Sams Report. Very happy to say it is, you two really have a connection and I love the digs in good humor at each other. In my humble opinion for a first episode you have both done well, congrats guys :)

Refering to your excellent first First Ring Daily, I can still use "move to junk" from Mail app after getting new Outlook mail (Outlook.com)

Hooray Premium content. And Paul is great on podcasts. I particularly enjoy him lamenting about the old days when Windows was king and the iPhone was merely a dream in Jobs’ head. :D

Me too. Brad/Paul if you check the comments we know it was Microsoft recording issues but a possibility of CC would be good for some of us. Thanks.

Well, the audio was weak until I activated "Dolby" and then, presto, It was normal. So, whatever that means. Maybe mono is bad? I don’t really know. Great first podcast!

I don’t feel as bad knowing that Paul is still waiting for the Outlook.com update as well. I received the upgrade email last week but I figured it was still a distant prospect. At least we can all count the days together.

Brad, I have Outlook Mail (the new one), and right-click has the "Mark as Junk" in the list of menu options. Clicking this sends the email to my Junk folder. There is also a "Move" option in the right-click menu that when clicking, brings up a flyout menu with the Move to Junk Mail option. I think the Mark as Junk works good enough to not have to go to the second menu.

I like the new forum section. It’s clean, and seems well layed out. Nice! I haven’t had a chance to watch this yet, and plan to tonight, so my apologies if this is answered in the video, but, when will this podcast be available for download by pod cast apps (I specifically use Pocket Casts on Android)?

Thanks, gentlemen!
