Understand that RS3 (Fall Creators) maybe getting close to feature complete for a target of 1708 or 1709 – surely timing will be set by the shipping of the ARM compatibility or this this likely to be a different release? 1708 shipping in early Sept would make sense for "back to school".

So if they do go with Windows 10 S as the be all and end all, doesn't that mean that Tim Sweeney was right to be worried all along?

As a gamer, 10 S is currently worthless to me as I can't play 99% of my game using it and I would be that the majority of my favourites wouldn't get ported over. Many game companies are moving to having their own launcher, such as Blizzard and EA, so that their games are all in one place and they don't have to pay Valve, etc, for the privilege of having them easily available. I can't imagine companies like them wanting to give that up and have to give money to Microsoft, and as it would kill Steam, where the vast majority of most people's game libraries reside, so I feel there would be just a touch of push-back from them :)

I realise that gamers are a small part of the PC audience but we spend large amounts of money on hardware (and software) so are we really a crowd that Microsoft wants to alienate?

I can see 10 S ending up as the sensible goto for business, especially if it is easy to port in-house apps to UWP, and I can also see it being a good choice for education, but I feel it will take a hell of a lot of effort for it to become accepted by people like myself.

Oh, and until Edge is on all devices that I want to use, and I can keep everything synced on those devices, Chrome will kick its butt in the browser wars.
