Tips and picks

Tip of the week: You can (sort-of) backup your PC with Google Backup and Sync

There’s a lot of misinformation out there about this app. But it also raises an interesting question about the need for arbitrary folder sync across PCs.

App pick of the week: Office Mobile for Windows 10 Insider Preview

Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Mobile get the Acrylic UX treatment … but only on Insider Preview for now.

Enterprise pick of the week: SQL Server 2017 RC1

Microsoft makes the first near-final release candidate of its newest SQL Server edition available for Linux and Win Server. ETA is still supposedly “this Summer”

Codename pick of the week: ReasoNet

Not sure if this is a codename or final, but ReasoNets, or reasoning networks, are going to be a big part of Microsoft’s evolving strategy for adding machine-reading to its apps, services.

Beer pick of the week: Cloudwater Bergamot Sour

From Manchester England’s Cloudwater Brew comes this delicious low ABV sour. Bergamot lemons! Yum!
