Tips and picks

Tip of the week: You need to go mesh for your next Wi-Fi network

It doesn’t have to be Google Wifi, but mesh wireless networking is the future of home networking.

App pick of the week: Forza Motorsport 7 Demo

Yep, you can try out the new Forza on both Xbox One and Windows 10.

Also: Better Together for Minecraft

Also: Microsoft Pix for iPhone

Enterprise pick of the week: Windows 10 1803 (Redstone 4) will be getting more auto investigation/response security features

Enterprise users will be getting some new Windows 10 Defender Advanced Threat Protection functionality. This is built-in security-automation technology Microsoft got when it acquired Hexadite.

Codename pick of the week: Honolulu

“Honolulu” is a graphical management solution for Windows Server, version 1709, and several other versions of Windows Server. Technical preview will be coming next week during Ignite.

Beer pick of the week: Cigar City Maduro Oatmeal Brown

Since we’ll be in Florida next week, how about a nice brown ale from Cigar City, based in Tampa.

Don’t forget: We’ll be doing Windows Weekly live at the usual time at Microsoft Ignite next week. Live audience is welcome!

There is a meetup the night before at World of Beer (Dr. Phillips Blvd.) starting 6pm on Tuesday Sept. 26. No RSVP needed.
