Tips and picks

Tip of the week: Buy an Xbox One, get a free … Amazon Echo Dot?!

It’s only in the US and for a limited time, but if you buy an Xbox One S or X, you’ll get a free Amazon Echo Dot, which is pretty much all you need to know about Microsoft’s Cortana strategy.

App pick of the week: Google Chrome 70

Even Microsoft Edge doesn’t do this: You can install PWAs as native apps in Windows 10 now. BAM!

Plus: Cortana 3.0 is now in beta with new UI, new features

Enterprise pick of the week: What’s next for Cortana?

She’s now in the Experiences & Devices – not Research – Group. Her future as a standalone AI is dwindling. Instead, she’ll be baked more and more into Windows and Office.

Beer pick of the week: Galway Brewing Sans Juice

Craft beer is alive and well in Ireland. Galway Brewing makes an amazing West Coast (US) IPA. I just had it and give it a thumbs up. Not juicy, bitter and tasty.

Beer pick of the week: Urban Brewing Lemon Verbena + Sage Saison

An excellent and unusual saison. Slight tinge of sage and lemon from Urban Brewing. Very drinkable. And right near the Dublin convention center – how handy!
