Tips and picks

Tip of the week: Xbox is having a “Shocktober” sale

Friday the 13th ($6), Alien Isolation: The Collection ($12), Prey ($15), and many other games are up to 70 percent off!

Also: Microsoft just added four horror titles to Xbox Game Pass too!

App pick of the week: Half-Life 2 Orange Box, Portal, and Left 4 Dead 1 & 2

Are now all on Xbox 360 Backward Compatibility and enhanced for Xbox One X!! And HOLY CRAP Half-Life 2 is still awesome.

Also: Firefox 63

Enterprise pick of the week: How to get the MS Tech Community blogs into your RSS feed

More and more MS blog content is being moved off MSDN/TechNet and onto MS Tech Community. I (and many others) believed/were told there were no RSS feeds for this thing. But there are! Master list (via @rpodric).

And an OPML file, ready-made, by Richard Hay.

Enterprise pick No. 2: The on-prem version of the Office 2019 servers are available this week

The one exception: Exchange Server 2019, which requires Win Server 2019 (which is not available right now). But otherwise, they are GA for commercial customers now. Exchange, SharePoint, Skype for Business, Project Server 2019 are all out.

Beer pick of the week: Springdale (Jack’s Abby) Brigadeiro

Jack’s Abby has a special barrel room that does experimental beers. One of them is an awesome sweet stout made with Brazilian coffee, lactose and some sugar. Think of a delicious sweet cup of coffee in beer form, and Brigadeiro is it. Clocks in at 7.5%

Interesting the issues Paul has had with Pixel 2 Xl. I have one and have for sometime, not a single issue. My Office all 3 of us have the Pixel 2 (2 XLs, 1 smaller) and not one of us have had issues

Apple and Privacy is unbelievable. Who rembers the Fappening and other such events. Apple pushes this as a major point of difference but really it is a bit like being holy like "Caesar's Wife". I suspect the only way most Tech Companies will ever take Privacy seriously is when they are dragging kicking and screaming to it including Apple.

You simply can't make an Android device give you as good of a Cortana experience as you get on Windows phones. It's impossible. Believe me, I am trying everything I possibly can to at least say I gave it a fair chance.

Oh, please. I trust Google for NOTHING. Absolutely NOTHING. There is no universe where I have any degree of trust in Google. Disgusting.
