Tips and picks

Tip of the week: Turn off stupid new options in the Facebook shortcut bar

Facebook is pushing its TikTok clone and a stupid store on its uses. You can disable this.

Menu > Settings > Shortcuts/Shortcut Bar – Then uncheck Marketplace and Watch

Thanks to Kelly D. Jones on Twitter. (Now let’s get a similar feature for Instagram, please.)

App pick of the week: HBO Max

HBO Max will have Wonder Woman 1984 on Christmas Day and the entire Warner Bros. new movie catalog in 2021. This is suddenly a no-brainer.

Enterprise pick of the week: Deploy SSUs and CUs together

This is a tip for IT admins who’ve been wanting to reduce the number of patches and updates they need to deploy.

Developer pick(s) of the week: A few GitHub announcements from GitHub Universe

Dark mode, dependency review for pull requests, more Sponsors for Companies funding

Beer pick of the week: Finback Cats are People Too DIPA

The theme of the week is cats and so is the theme of our beer pick: Finback Brewing’s Cats are People Too double IPA. It’s bitter and bold, just like cats themselves. A dry-hopped with Citra, Cashmere, Mosaic, Nelson and Belma. 9% abv – so be careful if you have more than one. Who knows what your cat will be doing….

Don’t forget we’ve got ChrisCap on next week’s show for the holidays!

Thanks for defending the superiority of cats, Paul. I live in a neighborhood with many dog owners who think everyone must love dogs–and worse, love their dog–so they bring them into the breweries where they bark, lick people, and are just generally in the way. It disgusts me.

I loved Leo's remark, "Dogs have owners, cats have staff". Classic.
