Picks and tips

Tip of the week: Games with Gold

It’s almost May, and that means a new month of Games with Gold.

App pick of the week: Xbox Cloud Gaming Beta

It’s only in a limited preview now, but the Xbox Cloud Gaming Beta on Windows and iPad shows promise.

Enterprise pick of the week: Cheat sheet: How to join Teams meetings from work conference rooms

As people go back to work, they’re still going to be in meetings – sometimes Teams meetings. But their facilities may not be outfitted optimally for this. Here’s a Microsoft cheat sheet with workarounds for those who may want/need help with this.

Codename pick of the week: Alexandria

Project Alexandria is a research project within Microsoft Research Cambridge dedicated to discovering entities, or topics of information, and their associated properties from unstructured documents. This research in probabilistic programming tech began with Infer.NET. Now it’s part of Viva Topics.

Beer pick of the week: Evil Twin Stay Home (version 3, the Royal Treatment)

New beer styles can be fun and good. Sometimes they go a little far astray like Evil Twin’s fruited “imperial” berliner weisse called Stay Home v. 3, the Royal Treatment. What ISN’T in this beer? sweet cherry, mango, orange, coconut, cacao, marshmallow, & vanilla bean. It looks like a fruit smoothie and tastes like one. Is it still a beer though?
