Tip of the week: Quick Access menu
OK, maybe most people listening know this already, but I am guessing not EVERYONE does since I see this coming up a lot on Twitter. Did you know if you right-click on the Start button in Windows 11 you get the Quick Access Menu (which includes a fast way to get to Shutdown and Restart)? It doesn’t make up for Microsoft taking away the right click on Taskbar option in Win 11, but at least it’s a consolation prize.
App pick of the week: Firefox 96
No major new features, but still a viable alternative to Chrome and Edge
Codename pick of the week: Gibraltar
Microsoft looks to be overhauling Microsoft Defender for Windows to make it more of a security suite for a family of devices (including iOS and Android). This app, codenamed “Gibraltar,” first showed up in preview in the Microsoft Store last fall. Supposedly some Insiders have access to it, as do Microsoft employees. New screenshots of it leaked this week, courtesy of Twitter.
Cocktail of the week: Blue Bomber
3 parts hpnotiq
1 part vanilla vodka
1 part Malibu rum
1 egg white
Usually, I garnish with a fancy dark maraschino cherry but in this case, the bright red ones from the supermarket are prettier.
