IFA 2025: Eero Signal Adds Cellular Backup to Home Wi-Fi

At IFA 2025 in Berlin Germany this week, Eero announced two the Eero Signal, a companion device for the company’s Wi-Fi mesh systems that provides cellular-based backup connectivity when there’s an Internet outage. It also announced its first-ever Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) Wi-Fi 7 access point that uses wired infrastructure to deliver Wi-Fi in homes and businesses.

“With Eero Signal, customers get peace of mind that their network will stay online during an Internet outage,” the Eero announcement explains. “It can be connected to any USB-C-powered Eero on a network that supports Wi-Fi 6 and up, and will be available in 4G and 5G models. Eero Signal will automatically detect an internet outage and use the best cellular backup connection available.”

Eero Signal will be available in 4G/LTE and 5G versions that cost $99.99 and $199.99, respectively. But they also require an Eero Plus subscription plan, which costs $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year.

I have Eero Wi-Fi networks in both homes, in Pennsylvania and Mexico City, and I am a big fan of these products. But I have never seriously considered paying for Eero Plus until now: Despite all the extra functionality it provides, none seemed crucial for my needs. But a cellular data-based backup would be useful and might justify the expense. (I would need to pay for two subscriptions, I believe.)

Amazon lists the Eero Signal as “coming soon,” but you can preorder the Eero Signal 4G LTE cellular backup and Eero Signal 5G cellular backup now.
