Apple HomePod With Smart Home Display Could Be Coming in Late 2025

Apple 2nd gen HomePod

If Apple entered a new market with its Vision Pro headset earlier this year, the company may make its comeback to the smart home market next year with new smart displays. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, one of these products is a new HomePod with a smart display, a product he believes has already been delayed a couple of times.

Kuo initially expected this new HomePod to be released in 2024, then said it had been delayed to Q1 2025. In his latest predictions published earlier today, the supply chain analyst now believes that this “display-equipped HomePod” will enter mass production in Q3 2025.

“The delay in production is mainly due to software development,” Kuo explained. “The display-equipped HomePod is expected to feature an A18 processor, a 6–7 inch display, and support for the Apple Intelligence.”

Apple hasn’t released a new HomePod since the 2nd gen model made its debut in February 2023. The $99 HomePod Mini is still available, and it’s probably more popular than the 2nd gen HomePod priced at $299.

According to Kuo, “the display-equipped HomePod will emphasize smart home functionalities more.” The analyst also expects the device to seamlessly integrate with an upcoming Apple smart home IP camera that could be released in 2026. “I believe Apple will tightly integrate these two new products with its existing ecosystem and HomeKit to deliver a seamless smart home experience,” Kuo wrote.

While the HomePod family could probably benefit from a new model with smart home features, it may not be the only smart display from Apple coming next year. The usually well-informed Mark Gurman from Bloomberg previously reported that Apple could launch “an affordable iPad-like screen” next year. This new smart display may ship with a new “homeOS” operating system, and Gurman expects it to be followed by a higher-end robotic tabletop device in 2026.

In a separate piece about the key suppliers for Apple’s smart home products, Ming-Chi Kuo also mentioned that new iPad Pro models with M5 chips will enter mass production in the second half of 2025. Apple’s M4 chip made its debut on new 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models earlier this year, and it has since made its way to the 24” iMac, new 14” and 16” MacBook Pros, and a redesigned Mac Mini.
