The November Pixel Drop is Here with a Big Update for Android Too

Google has begun rolling out its November Pixel Drop and a separate set of updates for all supported Android devices.

“Explore the latest Pixel features, including Remix in Google Messages, ‘Wicked: For Good’ theme packs and AI-powered notification summaries,” Google product manager Aisha Sharif writes.

Here’s what’s new in the Pixel Drop:

Remix in Google Messages. This feature lets you use Google’s Nano Banana image and generation and editing model to remix images in chats that work with any phone and with group chats, too.

“Wicked: For Good” theme packs. This set of wallpapers, icons, system sounds and GIFs are inspired by the movie and include three styles: Good, Glinda and Elphaba.

AI-powered notification summaries. Pixel can now display notification summaries of longer conversations in chat apps so you can quickly get up-to-date. In December, this functionality will be expanded to include organizing and silencing lower-priority notifications so you’re not interrupted so much.

Scam Detection for chat notifications. Pixel 6 and newer Pixels in the U.S. can now use notifications to warn about potential scam chat messages in many popular apps.

VIP improvements. Now, message notifications from contacts marked as VIPs will be prioritized so you don’t miss anything, and these VIPs will now display a badge if they have a critical alert in their location.

More personalized edits in Google Photos. The “Help me edit” feature in Google Photos can make edits based on prompts.

Power saving mode in Google Maps. On Pixel 10 series devices, you can get a power saving mode in Google Maps that displays only key information like turns, a change Google says can extend your battery life up to four hours.

Pixel exclusives in more places. Scam Detection is available on Pixel 9 and newer in the U.K., Ireland, India, Australia and Canada, and Gemini Nano-powered Call Notes are now available in Australia, Canada, the U.K., Ireland and Japan.

Magic Cue improvements. This Pixel 10 series exclusive feature now delivers more timely suggestions powered by Google Private AI Compute, which Google says is its “latest AI processing platform, built to deliver the speed and power of advanced Gemini models in the cloud while extending the same user security and privacy assurances of on-device processing.”

Additionally, Android users on supported devices can look forward to AI-powered suggestions in Gboard, new Emoji Kitchen updates, Bluetooth LE-based audio sharing, a redesigned Quick Share interface, and other updates. You can learn more on the Android Features website.
