Google Brings Do Not Disturb and Bedtime Mode to OG Pixel Watch

Google today released the December 2023 Software Update for the Pixel Watch, which adds two Pixel Watch 2 features to the original Watch. Pixel Watch 2 owners, meanwhile, get a fix for an image retention issue.

“All supported Pixel Watch devices running Wear OS 4 will receive the December 2023 software update starting today,” Google’s Stefanie Frederick writes in a new post to the Google Support Community Center. “The rollout will continue over the coming weeks in phases depending on carrier and device. Users will receive a notification on their watch once the OTA becomes available for their device.”

The December 2023 software update includes new convenience features, numerous bug fixes, and performance updates for Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 users, Google says. But the two big new features are for the OG Pixel Watch, as they were originally unique to the Pixel Watch 2: You can now sync your Do Not Disturb and Bedtime Modes between the watch and your Pixel phone. These updates are in addition to the new features that Google delivered as part of its recent Pixel Feature Drop, like Call Screen, new watch faces and complications for the OG Pixel Watch, and the ability to unlock your Pixel phone when it’s near your Pixel Watch.

Google says that Pixel Watch updates usually take less than an hour to install, and that the Pixel Watch has to be charged above 50 percent for the update to be offered. You can learn more about Pixel Watch software updates on the Google Support website.
