Windows 10 May 2019 Update Gets a New Insider Build

Microsoft today announced the official name for the next major Windows 10 update. So far, we referred to it as Windows 10 19H1, and now that it has an official name, we are going to refer to the update as the May 2019 Update.

The May 2019 Update for Windows 10 is getting a new Insider build today with some fixes. Microsoft is releasing build 18362.30 to Insiders in both the Fast and Slow Rings, and it only comes with three minor fixes:

 • We fixed an issue where AAD users were not able to sign-in after updating to 19H1 on AAD-joined PC not enrolled into MDM.
 • We fixed an issue where users were unable to enable\disable .NET Framework or other optional feature- on-demand (FODs) after installing recent Cumulative Updates.
 • We fixed an issue where a user’s PC may get into a unbootable state after installing a Cumulative Update and then installing a optional feature-on-demand (FOD).

Windows 10 May 2019 Update is finalized, so Microsoft is only really bothered about minor bugs at this point. The company is expected to release the update to Insiders in the Release Preview ring next week, where it will be tested for a month. And once that’s done, the company will start the official, public rollout of the update.

As for build 18362.30, it’s available with the KB4497464 update, which you should be able to install from Windows Update if you are in the Fast or Slow rings.

So, now that we've jumped out (via the magic window article), do we have to jump back in to get this update?

Technically, this is not a new build but the original build with the cumulative update KB4497464 applied. This is pretty much a confirmation that 18362 is the "RTM" build.

It's the first week of April now. Still plenty of time to bump the build number.

I didn't get a new build, got a Cumulative Update for "Windows 10 Version Next". Just a minor technicality.

The second one caught me out! I was setting up a remote VM with the RSATs installed and they would start to download, then abort. I had it in the Fast Ring and was testing it against a test w2k19 domain. After much fiddling around, it eventually worked.

Anyone have an idea how long the magic window will remain open? Thinking of jumping back in and getting the update on a particular machine, then jumping back out again… (edit) Heck with it – went ahead…

In reply to chrisrut:

Microsoft today posted their check your insider settings post and mentioned that Fast Ring is getting 20H1 builds and the 19H2 builds will be coming in the spring.

i guess we'll have to wait and find out in May if the May 2019 Update is really version 1903 build 18362.x as MS does have time to change the build number from 18362
