Conventional wisdom tells us that the app gap is the single biggest issue with Windows phone in particular. But the good folks from AdDuplex say there are plenty of great apps for both Windows 10 and Windows phones. The problem is you just can’t find them.
To help with high-quality app discovery, they’ve created their own app, called AppRaisin. It uses community-driven feedback to ensure that only the best apps are surfaced to the top.
“AppRaisin is a mobile-first service aimed at solving the biggest problem in modern app stores – app discovery,” AdDuplex’s Alan Mendelevich told me. “AppRaisin helps Windows enthusiasts stay on top of the latest releases, major updates and special offerings. Users decide what news raise to the top by ‘raising’ the apps they like and ignoring the noise. This way enthusiasts get to make sure that top of the crop apps get the attention they deserve and less active users get a curated list of just the best app news.”
AppRaisin is a universal Windows app and is available for both Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile for phones. This first release includes basic functionality like news submission, rating, sharing and more, Mendelevich says. And more new features, including more social stuff like user pages, and comments, are coming soon.
“The very core that should bring back the joy of discovering great new apps and games is already there,” he said.
AppRaisin looks great—and it’s a great name, especially once you understand it—and I’ve installed it on my Surface Book and Windows phone so I can keep testing it going forward.
