Microsoft to Host Education Event on November 9

Microsoft has announced that it will host a virtual education event on Tuesday, November 9 that will include “new technology.” This is widely expected to include a new low-cost Surface Laptop, aimed at the education market, that can compete more effectively with Chromebook.

“Join us as we share an inside look at the latest tech solutions while examining gaps in learning left by the pandemic,” the announcement page notes. “Hear from Microsoft partners, school leaders and a few special guests, and learn about new and existing technology from Microsoft Education.”

Microsoft typically ties its major announcement for the educational sector to Bett, an annual education conference that typically takes place in January, so this timing is interesting. At Bett 2021, Microsoft announced Classroom Pen 2, new education PCs from partners, and improvements to Microsoft Teams for Education.
