TechSmith Releases Snagit 2025 and Camtasia 2025

TechSmith today released major updates to its flagship screen capture and screen recording tools for Windows and Mac, Snagit 2025 and Camtasia 2025.
“We’ve enhanced Snagit and Camtasia with new AI and Screentelligence features to make it faster and easier for users to achieve their creative goals,” TechSmith CTO Tony Lambert says. “User feedback heavily inspired these improvements, helping us simplify and streamline our most popular workflows and features so users can create content with less effort and improve visual communication within teams and organizations. We’re excited to build on this foundation with continuous updates throughout the year.”
Snagit 2025 adds several new AI- and Screentelligence-based features to this screen capture and screen recorder utility. Step Capture helps you create how-to and step-by-step guides by capturing the individual steps as you perform them and organizing them into a structured guide. Smart Redact automatically detects and blurs, pixelates, or redacts sensitive information from images including addresses, credit card numbers, phone numbers, and more using a single toggle. Background Noise Removal eliminates background noise in in videos. Corner rounding creates softer, more modern shots with rounded corners. And Virtual Background Capabilities blurs or otherwise changes the background during webcam-based video recordings on Mac only.
Camtasia 2025 similarly improves this screen recording and video editor with several new AI and editing capabilities. As above, Background Noise Removal removes background noise on video recordings and can be applied at any time to any video in the editor. Dynamic Caption Editing lets you manually adjust, add, or remove the words and spaces in captions that were dynamically created. Advanced cursor movements like Cursor Motion Blur, Kinetic Cursor, and Cursor Elevation provide focus and effects on the cursor in screen recordings. And AI Avatars, exclusive to Camtasia Pro, allows you to use a selection of human avatars in training videos.
Both products are available for Windows 10/11 and macOS, and SnagIt 2025 is also available natively on Windows 11 on Arm. That said, I’ve used Camtasia on Windows 11 on Arm without any issues.
