Xbox Ultimate Game Sale is Now Live

Xbox Ultimate Game Sale is Now Live

The other day, I mentioned that Microsoft was set to launch its Xbox Ultimate Game Sale. That sale is now live. And you should really take a look.

The thing is, you’ll need to do a bit of work.

The Ultimate Game Sale page is live now on Xbox.com. And Microsoft’s Larry Hyrb has posted a list of the Xbox One and Xbox 360 games that are available on sale for up to 85 percent (!) off, though remember you get the best prices if you have an Xbox Live Gold account.

What’s missing… is the actual prices.

For example, Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light for Xbox One, and The Bureau: XCOM Declassified and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition for Xbox 360, are all 85 percent off (for Xbox Live Gold members, 75 percent off otherwise). But the actual prices range from $2.24 to $2.99 depending on the game.

It will take a while to get through this list. But here are a few that stand out to me, based on the savings and what I know about each game.

The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season and The Walking Dead: Season Two are both 80 percent off, and The Walking Dead: Michonne – A Telltale Miniseries is 70 percent off. (All are for Xbox One.)

Move forward to the 75 percent off range, and a huge number of titles open up, including LEGO Marvel Super Heroes and Madden NFL 17 on Xbox One and Assassin’s Creed, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and many more on Xbox 360.

More recent titles have more modest sale prices. The three versions of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands are all 35 percent off ($45 to $80), for example.

Point being, it’s worth going through the lists. You’ll find something excellent at a great price.

Picked up a few games…that I'll play in 5 years when I get the time. I love how Steam, GOG, and XBOX sales drain my wallet a little for games to play much later. 🙂

Not sure why there aren't any prices on the regional Microsoft page, that's unusual. But Major Nelson just posts percentages because his site is worldwide, and he knows there's more currencies in the world than just US dollars…

www.storeparser.com

This site lists all the prices, and you can sort Xbox One from 360. Also prices for different regions.

Love how Andromedia is half off. Guess it didn't sell to well. I tried the free demo and after just a few hours into my 10 hours demo I uninstalled it. The game is a clunky mess. The character control is clumsy and erratic. Good luck trying to jump onto a platform right in front of you. I kept on over shooting it. It's difficult to get yourself to crouch behind anything with any accuracy. The animations look like they were done by a drunk monkey. And the endless savaging, the bad lip syncing, graphics that look like they belong on an XBOX 360. And fighting an unintuitive UI. I tried this both on the xbox one s and on my high end PC. Over all a big disappointment all around. Apparently Anthem is from ANOTHER planet and that is what Andromeda SHOULD look like.

Not everything is listed for discounts. Injustice 2 is listed, but the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions are not, though all are discounted. $85 for the Ultimate Edition is a nice savings off the normal $100 price.

Is it just games for Xbox, or is it games for PC, too? I don't do console gaming.
