Xbox One S Arrives on August 2nd

Xbox One S Hero

Microsoft has announced today that the Xbox One S that the company announced at E3 earlier this year, will be arriving on August 2nd. The updated console has a new standard controller, is 40% smaller, supports 4k video playback, has an integrated power supply and starts at $299.

If you pre-ordered the 2TB version of the console, your device will be arriving on August 2nd; this is good news as it means you won’t have to wait additional days as the console will ship a few days prior to make sure it arrives on the release date. If you have yet to do so, Microsoft is still accepting pre-orders for the console but they say availability is limited and you may want to check with local retailers if you hope to be able to purchase one in-store on the release date.

If the August 2nd date sounds familiar, and it should, this is the date that the company will be releasing the Anniversary update to all Windows 10 users.

To reiterate, the console will be available in the following regions on the release date: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UK and United States.

It’s important to point out that the blog post, which you can read here, does not mention a release date for the 500GB version or the 1TB option. If you ordered one of these versions, the release date is expected to be much closer to the holiday shopping season; Microsoft’s website currently states December for both variants.
