Xbox One S Tip: Link to Facebook and Twitter

Xbox One S Tip: Link to Facebook and Twitter

Xbox One owners can now link their Xbox Live account to Facebook and Twitter. Both work a bit differently: With Facebook, you can find more friends to play with. And with Twitter, you can share game clips and screenshots.

While you can also link these accounts from the Xbox (or Xbox Beta) app in Windows 10, let’s look at how you do so from the console: You link to both accounts from Settings, Account, Linked Social Accounts.

Facebook

To link your Facebook account, select the Link button under “Link Facebook account.” You’ll be prompted to sign in to your Facebook account using a web interface and then asked to confirm that you’re ready to connect with your Facebook friends. Once this is complete, the Social app runs, showing you a list of your Facebook friends who have already connected their Facebook accounts to Xbox.

Here, you can simply select a friend and then add them to your Xbox Live friends list. But as Microsoft notes, Xbox will continue to suggest friends to you as more link their accounts. And your gamertag and Facebook name will show up in their suggestions as well.

For example, if you display the Xbox Guide and change the Friends list to “Suggestions,” your Facebook friends will appear here as well.

You can later unlink Facebook by navigating back to Settings, Account, Linked Social Accounts: Just select the Unlink button under “Unlink Facebook account.”

Twitter

To link your Twitter account, select the Sign in to Twitter button under “Link to Twitter.” You’ll be prompted to sign in to your Twitter account. Once this is complete, you’re simply dumped back at the Linked Social Accounts screen, where you can see that Twitter has been linked.

Now that the account is linked, you can share game clips and screenshots to Twitter. To do so, load the screenshot or clip you’d like to share in Game DVR and then select Share from the menu on the right. Twitter is now an option.

If you select Twitter from the list, you’re then prompted to optionally add a caption and then send the tweet.
