Spotify is now offering music videos in 85 new markets today following a previous launch in 12 countries earlier this year. Along with the new AI DJ and AI Playlist features, music videos on Spotify are only available for Premium subscribers, with a currently limited catalog of music videos.
As of today, Spotify still labels music videos as a beta feature, but three improvements are now rolling out to Premium subscribers: First of all, there are new indicators on tracks that have a music video, and users can now seamlessly switch between video and audio and pick up right where they left off. Moreover, it’s now easier to find music videos and their related tracks via Spotify’s search feature.
“Music videos are a powerful way to build connections between artists and fans,” Spotify said today. “In fact, users who discover a song and then watch the music video on Spotify are 34% more likely on average to stream the song again the following week. And on average, songs discovered with music videos are 24% more likely to be saved or shared in the following week by those who watched.”
If you’re a Premium subscriber, Spotify’s music videos are currently available on iOS, Android, desktop, and the company’s TV apps. In addition to making music videos available in a total of 97 markets, Spotify also made its Audiobooks in Premium offering available in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg yesterday.
