Spotify’s AI Playlists Come the US, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand

Spotify AI Playlist

Spotify is making its new AI Playlists available in four new countries today. The AI-powered feature first launched in the UK and Australia in April, and it’s now available for English-speaking Premium members in Ireland, the US, Canada, and New Zealand.

Spotify’s AI Playlist lets users create a playlist using natural language prompts. The feature is still in beta and remains only available on the company’s iOS and Android apps. According to Spotify, “millions of playlists” have already been created since the new generative AI feature launched in the UK and Australia earlier this year.

“The most successful playlists are generated with prompts that contain a mix of genres, moods, artists, or decades,” the company explained today. “You can also reference places, animals, activities, movie characters, colors, and even emojis.”

To create an AI Playlist, Spotify Premium members in supported countries need to open the ‘Your Library’ section of the mobile app, tap the ‘+’ button, and then select ‘AI Playlist.’ The app will offer prompt suggestions to help users get creative, and it’s also possible to improve the selection of songs with additional prompts.

Spotify has already been leveraging generative AI technology to launch a new AI DJ in select markets. While these new AI playlists are currently available in just six countries, the team said today that it will “keep iterating and innovating on this experience to better serve our listeners.”
