In recent years, AI and Google Gemini have been getting far more stage time than Android at the Google I/O introducing keynotes. That’s why the company may prefer to highlight new Android features ahead of the main Google I/O event. Google published the full I/O 2025 schedule last week, and there will still be over 20 sessions dedicated to Android.
The fourth Android 16 beta was released on April 18, and we should be getting closer to the final release. So far, the main updates include Live Updates to keep track of important ongoing activities on the lock screen, a notification cooldown feature to reduce distractions from notifications received during a short time, built-in battery health diagnostics, and more.
