ChatGPT Deep Research Can Now Access SharePoint and OneDrive Files

ChatGPT Deep Research

ChatGPT Deep Research, the AI research agent that’s now available for all users of the chatbot, can now connect with Microsoft’s OneDrive and SharePoint services. A new connector was released in beta this week for ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Team users, with support for ChatGPT Enterprise coming later (via Windows Central).

Deep Research can synthesize knowledge from online sources and create a detailed report that matches the quality of what a human research analyst could do, according to OpenAI. With this new beta connector, ChatGPT users can now have the AI agent do its magic using files stored in OneDrive and SharePoint.

“When you connect Microsoft OneDrive or SharePoint to deep research, ChatGPT can access live data from your files and analyze them in real time. Simply connect, ask a question, and deep research will read, analyze, and cite relevant content from your files,” the company explained on a support page.

Thanks to a new lightweight version of Deep Research, ChatGPT Plus, Team, Enterprise, and Edu users now get 25 queries per month, with Pro users getting 250 queries. Connecting OneDrive and SharePoint accounts to the chatbot can be done from the Connectors section of ChatGPT Settings. Alternatively, users can select Deep Research in the composer, click the down arrow, and choose SharePoint. Microsoft 365 admins still need to approve the ChatGPT connector, however.

This new ChatGPT connector doesn’t work with OneDrive consumer accounts, and it’s also not available yet in the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the UK. OpenAI also has a GitHub connector for ChatGPT Deep Research that can pull live data from your repositories.
