Microsoft vice president Scott Hanselman has brought a semi-useful Mac feature to Windows 11. For some reason.
“Mac has that cool feature where you click the desktop and all the apps get out of the way, you can drag stuff, and then click back and they’ll restore,” he tweeted. “I made that for Windows. Please test”
By that, he means PeekDesktop, his new utility for Windows 11. Once it’s installed, you can click an empty, exposed part of the Desktop background to minimize all open windows and interact with whatever files and shortcuts are on the Desktop. When you’re done, just click the Desktop again and all the previously open windows will restore correctly.
PeekDesktop is available in x64 and Arm64 downloads, and it’s completely unnecessary if you know how Show Desktop and the WINKEY + D keyboard shortcut work. But if you want to pretend to be a Mac jerk, you can find the downloads on Scott’s Tiny Tool Town website.
