Netflix Will Soon Add Videos From BuzzFeed and Other Publishers

Netflix will soon diversify its content offering with the addition of videos from BuzzFeed, Condé Nast, People Inc, Hearst Magazines, PMX, and Tastemade. The content licensing deals with these companies will benefit Netflix subscribers in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Ireland, who will get access to curated videos from these publishers starting on August 3.

“You can expect a mix of licensed past videos and new ongoing series like AD’s “Open Door”; BuzzFeed’s “I Draw, You Cook”; Elle’s “Where is the Lie”; People’s “My Life in Pictures”; Tastemade’s “Struggle Meals”; and many more,” Netflix said yesterday. The video streaming platform is already planning to add more videos from other digital publishers.

To be clear, Netflix is adding existing videos from the Internet about food, travel, fashion, entertainment, design, wellness, and other topics. By bringing them to its platform, Netflix is giving its subscribers another reason to spend more time on the platform.

Last year, Netflix also partnered with Spotify to bring some of its video podcasts to its platform. Again, this is all about bringing more types of content to Netflix, though the terms of the deal will reportedly prevent the selection of video podcasts from being streamed in full on YouTube, which is Netflix’s main competitor.
