Amazon Raises the Prices of Fire TV, Echo, Kindle, and eero Devices

Amazon has raised the price of its Echo speakers and smart displays, Fire TV devices, and Kindle e-readers due to the ongoing memory and storage crisis. The price hikes are over 40% for some devices like the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus and Max, though Amazon’s Ring smart home products are notably spared.

Speaking with Fortune, an Amazon spokesperson said that the consumer electronics industry is “facing significant increases in memory and storage component costs. After absorbing these increases for as long as we could, we recently adjusted pricing across our product lines.”

Amazon’s devices are known to prioritize affordability over style. However, under the leadership of Panos Panay, the company had already started releasing more premium products like the latest Echo Dot Max, which was double the price of the previous generation. At the same time, the company also launched the Vega-powered Fire TV Stick HD and Fire TV Stick 4K Select, which use less RAM and storage than other models running the Android-based Fire TV OS. Still, these two models are getting up to 25% price increases.
