Tips and picks

Tip of the week: How to choose whether to sign-in to Windows 10 with an MSA

I’ve spent a lot of time investigating how the role of your Microsoft account is changing as Windows 10 evolves, and whether you should—or shouldn’t—sign-in to Windows 10 with this account.

App pick of the week: Finally, some useful utilities for desktop users

I have two:

Sizer. You can use this app to size and position applications on multiple screens or a panoramic display. Thanks to Robert B. via email.

EXIF Date Changer. I recently wrote about scanning in old photos and the missing piece is tagging the correct date. This works nicely and does batch processing. Thanks to Alan G. via email.

Plus: Skype Preview for Android. Plus, Skype Preview for iOS is available too. Sort of.

Enterprise pick of the week: An update on Patch Tuesday

Last week, we told you Patch Tuesday was abruptly cancelled. We now know that MS did deliver Flash updates this week, but the rest of its patches were pushed to next Patch Tuesday (March 14). The rumored culprit: A problem w. MS’ build system.

Codename pick of the week: Project Sangam

Microsoft announced a new “Skype Lite” product for the Indian market this week. It also announced “Project Sangram,” which is the working name for the Linkedin-Aadhaar biometric identity integration piece

Beer pick of the week: Grimm Sugarmaker

An imperial stout with vanilla and maple syrup from those Grimm Artisinal whiz kids. A New York beer in honor of NY City Beer week, which kicks off here on Friday! Woooo
