Report: iOS 18.2 is Coming in Early December with New Apple Intelligence Features

iOS 18.2 Apple Intelligence

It’s now been a week since Apple made a first set of Apple Intelligence features on select iPhones, iPads, and Macs. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the second wave will come in early December with the release of iOS 18.2, which is currently available as a developer beta alongside iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2.

Gurman heard that Apple is currently targeting the week of December 2 for the public release of iOS 18.2, “barring any unexpected delays.” This update will bring a new Image Playground app, a ChatGPT integration in Siri and Writing Tools, and custom AI-generated emoji called “Genmoji.”

iOS 18.2 is also the update that will make Apple Intelligence available in more English-speaking countries including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK. Thanks to changes to default app settings, iPhone users will also be able to choose alternative Phone and Messaging apps. The new bits will also allow EU users to delete more inbox apps including the App Store, Messages, Camera, Photos, and Safari.

According to Gurman, the next big update for Apple Intelligence will come in April 2025 with the release of iOS 18.4. This is the update that will make Siri aware of users’ personal context as well as what’s on the screen to take action in and across apps. iOS 18.4 should also make Apple Intelligence available on eligible iPhones and iPads in the EU. Apple’s personal intelligence system is already available for Mac users in the EU who set their device and Siri language to US English.
