iOS 18.2 Beta 2 Adds ChatGPT Plus Integration

Apple Intelligence ChatGPT

Apple has released a second iOS 18.2 beta for developers yesterday, and it brings quite a lot of new features. The first developer beta released two weeks ago introduced new Apple Intelligence features including Image Playground, Genmoji, and Visual Intelligence. This second beta adds the ability to unlock ChatGPT Plus features in Writing Tools and Siri.

Apple Intelligence currently makes it possible to access ChatGPT without being logged in to a free OpenAI account, though this experience has some limitations. With this new iOS 18.2 developer beta, iPhone users can now access ChatGPT Plus from Apple Intelligence if they already have a subscription. It’s now possible to log into an existing ChatGPT account in Settings or subscribe directly to ChatGPT Plus ($19.99/month) via this same app.

ChatGPT Plus unlocks 5x more messages on GPT-4o and access to even more advanced models. Subscribers can also enjoy higher limits for photos and file uploads, image generation, and web browsing, as well as ChatGPT’s advanced voice mode.

9to5Mac has a good roundup of other new features in this second iOS 18.2 developer beta. There’s a new “Create Image” option when highlighting text in the Notes app, and this leverages the new Image Playground tool that’s part of Apple Intelligence.

The Find My app is also getting the ability to share the location of a lost AirTag with an airline or a trusted person. iPhone 16 users are also getting two new Camera Control features: The first one will let users light-press Camera Control to lock the exposure and focus before taking a picture, and the second one adds two options for slowing down the double click speed of Camera Control.

iOS 18.2 may be released in the first week of December according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. This update will also make Apple Intelligence available in more English-speaking countries, and it will also let users choose alternative Phone and Messaging apps.
