Spotify Wrapped 2024 Highlights Your Year in Music with Notebook LLM

Spotify has posted its year-end wrap-up for customers and this year, it comes with an AI-powered surprise courtesy of Google’s Notebook LLM: A personalized podcast-style overview of your year in music.

“Our annual thank-you to fans around the world, Spotify Wrapped has become deeply ingrained in the lives of music fans worldwide,” Spotify vice president Marc Hazan says. “What started as a look back at the music and audio that defined the year has become a global cultural phenomenon in its own right, a moment driven by the passion of hundreds of millions of fans. We’re thrilled to debut 2024 Spotify Wrapped to more fans than ever before this year, celebrating the hundreds of millions of ways that they’ve streamed.”

To access Spotify Wrapped 2024, open the Spotify app on web, desktop, or mobile: You’ll see a new “Wrapped” header with all kinds of options, one of which is called Wrapped AI podcast. If you’re familiar with NotebookLM, it will sound familiar, with two AI-made hosts discussing the music you listened to in the past years. It’s fun (and weird), and you can share it with friends or download it.

There’s a lot more. Spotify Wrapped 2024 also includes DJ: Wrapped (Beta), a “trip through your year in music, hosted by your own personal DJ,” a “Your Music Evolution” entry that reveals the “musical phases that uniquely defined your year,” and a new design that you’ll now see throughout the app with animated hyper-loops, Spotify’s new Spotify Mix typeface, and bold new colors and layouts. The whole thing is actually pretty impressive.
