Nano Banana, the powerful new image editing model that Google added to its Gemini app back in August is now coming to Google Search and the NotebookLM app. In the Google mobile app, Nano Banana is now integrated into the Lens mode, where it lets users transform images with AI.

This new “Create” feature works with photos captured in Lens mode as well as pictures in the gallery. Users can pick up one of the suggested prompts to transform their images, and it’s also possible to create brand new images from scratch with AI. Nano Banana in the Google mobile app is rolling out first to users in the US and India.

In the NotebookLM app, Nano Banana can now improve the app’s Video Overviews with six new styles, including watercolor, anime, and papercraft. The image editing model can also create illustrations inspired by the uploaded sources. “The result is Video Overviews that don’t just tell you about your documents — they help you understand and remember them,” the Google team explained. Lastly, Video Overviews can now be created using two formats, the comprehensive “Explainer” format and the new “Brief” option designed to provide quick insights.

Google’s Nano Banana model is also coming soon to the Google Photos app, which already offers various AI-powered editing features. Google previously boasted about Nano Banana being the “top-rated image editing model in the world,” and the company said today that it has now been used to generate more than 5 billion images since its launch.
