Adobe Announces AI Assistants, Firefly Models, More

Adobe announced sweeping new AI capabilities across its professional creative apps that include new AI assistants and new Firefly and third-party AI models.

“We believe every creator should be able to harness the economic and artistic opportunities flowing from generative AI, conversational AI and the exploding global demand for creative content,” Adobe president David Wadhwani said. “Our AI at Adobe is made to create and built for the creators who paint the world with their imagination.”

Here’s what’s new.

New AI capabilities across Creative Cloud. New AI capabilities include Generative Fill with top model support, Generative Upscale, and Harmonize AI-assisted compositing in Photoshop, AI Object Mask (beta), Rectangle, Ellipse and Pen Masking (public beta), and Fast Vector Mask (public beta) in Premiere, and Assisted Culling in Lightroom.

Adobe Firefly improvements. The Firefly all-in-one AI creative studio now supports fully licensed audio track creation with a timeline-based video editor, the Firefly Boards collaborative and AI-powered ideation space, support for the Project Moonlight conversational AI assistant, now in preview, and Generate Soundtrack (public beta), Generate Speech (public beta), and Prompt to Edit capabilities.

Adobe Express improvements. Adobe Express is getting an AI assistant in beta with conversational creation and editing capabilities, and it’s coming to enterprises soon with additional capabilities.

YouTube partnership. Adobe is partnering with YouTube with a new Create for YouTube Shorts feature that’s coming soon to Premiere Mobile, its free video editing app. “From day-in-the-life vlogs to travel videos, behind-the-scenes content and everything in between, creators will be able to make and share amazing content anytime, anywhere,” Adobe says. It will be available via a new “Edit in Adobe Premiere” icon in YouTube Shorts as well.

New Firefly AI models. Adobe announced new commercially safe AI models for video, audio, imaging, vectors, design and 3D, including the new Firefly Image Model 5 (public beta) which Adobe says combines native 4MP resolution, photorealistic quality, and prompt-based editing.

New custom Firefly AI models. Creators can now customize Firefly models to generate assets in their unique styles using reference images, illustrations, sketches, and other assets.

New third-party AI model support. Adobe apps like Firefly, Photoshop, and Adobe Express can now take advantage of the latest models from Google, Open AI, and several other companies.
