Google Gemini Comes to Chrome for iOS in the US

Google Gemini in Chrome

After bringing its Gemini chatbot to the desktop version of Chrome in September, Google is starting to roll out a new Gemini integration in Chrome for iOS (via 9to5Google). At the moment, the built-in Gemini experience is only available for US users with Chrome’s language set to English.

Just like on the desktop, Gemini in Chrome for iOS can summarize web pages, create an FAQ using the information from a specific page and similar sites, and more. Compared to the desktop experience, Gemini in Chrome for iOS can only analyze content from the current browser tab, while desktop users can share up to 10 open tabs with the chatbot.

To access Gemini, Chrome for iOS users will need to tap the new Gemini spark icon to the left of the address bar, which replaces the previous Google Lens icon. This will open a Page tools pop-up with two buttons: Search screen (the existing Google Lens feature) and the new ‘Ask Gemini’ option.

Choosing the Ask Gemini option will open a conversation with the chatbot, and the “Summarize page and “Create FAQ about this topic” suggestions will appear on top of the chat window. Gemini’s responses will appear above the webpage, and Chrome users can end the conversation and stop sharing the page with Gemini at any time.

If you’re outside of the US, you can also try the new AI Mode in Chrome for iOS, which is available below the search box. Just like on the desktop, AI Mode uses Gemini to provide AI-powered answers, and it lets users ask follow-up questions.
