Apple Launches ‘Creator Studio’ App Bundle at $12.99/Month

Apple Creator Studio

Apple announced today the launch of Apple Creator Studio, a new app bundle designed for creative professionals, that will be available for $12.99 per month or $129 per year starting January 28. The subscription will provide access to Apple’s Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor, and MainStage apps, as well as new AI features and premium content in the ‘iWork’ suite of apps, which includes Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.

In detail, Apple Creator Studio will include access to the following apps and features:

  • Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Pixelmator Pro on Mac and iPad (the latter is coming to iPad models with A16, A17 Pro, or M1 chip or later).
  • Motion, Compressor, and MainStage on Mac
  • Intelligent features and premium content for Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and Freeform for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Apple Creator Studio is essentially the company’s take on Adobe’s Creative Cloud subscription, which offers different tiers featuring Apple’s graphic design, video editing, and web development applications. However, the Mac versions of Final Cut Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Logic Pro, Motion, Compressor, and MainStage can still be purchased individually on the Mac App Store.

Apple will offer a one-month free trial for its new Creator Studio subscription, and college students and educators will be able to subscribe for just $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year. With Family Sharing, an Apple Creator Studio subscription can also be shared with up to six family members.

“The apps included with Apple Creator Studio for video editing, music making, creative imaging, and visual productivity give modern creators the features and capabilities they need to experience the joy of editing and tailoring their content while realizing their artistic vision,” Apple said today. “Exciting new intelligent features and premium content build on familiar experiences of Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and later Freeform to make Apple Creator Studio an exciting subscription suite to empower creators of all disciplines while protecting their privacy.”

Along with its new subscription, Apple announced various new features for its creative apps. Final Cut Pro is getting Transcript Search, Beat Detection, and an AI-powered Montage Maker feature. Logic Pro is adding a new Sound Library with hundreds of royalty-free loops, samples, and more, while the new Pixelmator Pro for iPad will be optimized for Apple Pencil.

An Apple Creator Studio subscription will also unlock new features in Apple’s Keynote, Pages, and Numbers apps. There will be a new Content Hub with curated high-quality photos, as well as advanced image creation and editing tools that leverage OpenAI and on-device models. Keynote, Apple’s alternative to PowerPoint, will also let users create a new presentation quickly from a natural language prompt.

Last but not least, Apple will be offering three months of Apple Creator Studio for free with the purchase of a new Mac or qualifying iPad. This is a good way to get consumers hooked to Apple’s creative apps, which are pretty solid if you don’t take the rarely updated Pages, Numbers, and Keynote into account.
