Google’s new Personal Intelligence feature, which connects its Gemini AI to other Google apps to provide personalized suggestions, is available for all US users starting today. The feature is available across AI Mode in Search, the Gemini app, Google Photos, as wel as the new Gemini integration in Google Chrome.
“Personal Intelligence allows you to securely connect the dots across your Google apps — like Gmail, Google Photos and more — to provide responses that are uniquely relevant to you. Whether you’re looking for a specific brand of sneakers you previously purchased, or planning a family getaway based on your hotel confirmations and past travel memories, Personal Intelligence helps you find exactly what you need without having to give all the context,” Google explained today.
Google emphasized that Personal Intelligence still lets users stay in control of which Google app they want to connect to get more personalized answers. The company also doesn’t use users’ Gmail inboxes and Google Photos libraries to train its AI models. The company says that it’s using information like prompts and responses in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search to improve functionality over time.
At the moment, Personal Intelligence is only available for personal Google accounts in the US, and Google acknowledges that the feature can still make mistakes by misinterpreting context or making incorrect assumptions about users’ activity. When using Gemini or AI mode in Search, users correct the chatbot’s responses and ask it to remember correct details about them.
