Gemini Notebook to be Updated with New Personalization and Learning Tools

Google’s Gemini Notebook–formerly NotebookLM–has emerged as one of the more impressive new productivity apps of the AI era. And it will soon get even better still with some new personalization and learning tools.

“We’re rolling out new features that bring a more personalized and powerful learning experience, including the ability to have real-time conversations with your notebooks and create interactive learning overviews for focused studying,” Google director of product management Trond Wuellner writes. “From gathering your trusted information and organizing your thoughts to sparking new ideas in one place, there are new ways to unlock deeper learning at every step.”

Here’s what’s coming soon.

Real-time conversations on mobile. Soon, you’ll be able to engage in real-time conversations with your notebooks on Android, iPhone, and iPad in almost 100 languages. Each response is grounded in the sources you’ve configured for each notebook and you can interrupt and ask questions at any time.

Audio recorder on mobile. Gemini Notebook is getting an audio recorder feature on mobile next week that will let you record your thoughts, lectures, and whatever else. These sources will sit alongside the handwritten notes, worksheets, photos, and other sources you collect, so you can chat, cite, and build from them while making ongoing edits.

Interactive learning overviews. Gemini Notebook will soon support the creation of interactive learning overviews that combine summaries, infographics, quizzes, and flashcards. There will soon be more quiz formats, including short answer, multiple select, and fill in the blank. And you can follow up on completed quizzes and flashcards by chatting with the notebook.

Wuellner also points out that students worldwide can get Gemini AI Pro, a $19.99 per month value in the U.S., for free for one year, as was originally announced in late August. You can claim this offer on the Google One website.
