Microsoft announced its Researcher and Analyst AI reasoning agents for Microsoft 365 Copilot back in March and then made them available in preview through the Frontier program. Today, the software giant revealed that these features are now generally available, allowing anyone with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license to use them to complete complex, analytical work in minutes.
“Our new Analyst and Researcher agents deliver advanced reasoning using ChatGPT’s 03-mini reasoning model,” Microsoft chief marketing officer of AI at Work Jared Spataro says. “And it really is like having a dedicated employee at your side ready to go, 24-7.”
Researcher and Analyst are part of Microsoft’s so-called Wave 2 releases for Microsoft 365 Copilot, joining recently released features like the Agent Store, Copilot Search, Memory, Notebooks, and Image generation. Researcher combines OpenAI’s deep research model with Microsoft 365 Copilot’s advanced orchestration and search capabilities to help users tackle multistep research. And Analyst is optimized for advanced data analysis, providing answers Microsoft claims mirror human analytical thinking.
Both of these new features are readily accessible in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app as pins and via Copilot Chat, and licensees can run up to 25 combined queries per month. Researcher current supports 37 languages, while Analyst is available in 8, but both will improve to support more languages soon.
