Amazon, OpenAI Expand Their AWS Partnership

Amazon, OpenAI Expanding AWS Partnership

The ink isn’t even dry on the revised Microsoft/OpenAI partnership and the latter is already making new deals. As expected, OpenAI is immediately being more promiscuous.

“AWS and OpenAI are bringing the latest OpenAI models to Amazon Bedrock, launching Codex on Amazon Bedrock, and launching Amazon Bedrock Managed Agents, powered by OpenAI, giving enterprises the frontier intelligence they want on the infrastructure they trust,” an Amazon announcement notes of its expanded OpenAI partnership. “Enterprises want to build with the most capable AI models and agents available. They also need the security posture, operational maturity, and data governance that production workloads demand.”

Starting today, Amazon AWS is offering the following, all in what it calls a limited preview:

OpenAI models on Amazon Bedrock. The latest OpenAI models are now available on AWS via the same Amazon Bedrock APIs and controls those customers already use.

Codex on Amazon Bedrock. OpenAI’s software coding agent is now available for enterprise customers on Amazon Bedrock “at scale.”

OpenAI-powered Amazon Bedrock managed AI agents. This is an “optimized experience” for building AI agents with OpenAI frontier models on AWS in production.

“This is the beginning of a deeper collaboration between AWS and OpenAI,” the announcement continues. “As OpenAI pushes the frontier of reasoning and agentic capabilities, AWS and OpenAI will continue to bring the latest advances to Amazon Bedrock—so the models and agents you build with today continue to benefit from new breakthroughs as they arrive.”

Take that, Microsoft.
