Mr. Limp revealed earlier this year that he will retire from Amazon.com after serving the firm for over 12 years, currently as the senior vice president of devices and services. So the timing is unclear, as Amazon is set to host its annual hardware event on Wednesday, and Mr. Limp always played a big role in that. Also unclear is whether Panay will eventually take over just Amazon’s devices business or devices and services, succeeding Limp.

The timing of the Panay announcement is interesting, though. Will Limp appear on Wednesday? Panay? Both?

I guess we’ll see. But I can’t imagine Panay is taking part in this week’s Microsoft Special Event on Thursday. In fact, I suspect him leaving and the makeup of that event were both decided months ago.
