Amazon’s First Ever NFL Black Friday Game to Include Shoppable Ads

Amazon NFL Black Friday Football Game

Amazon will stream its first-ever NFL Black Friday football game on Prime Video on November 24, and the company is promising a show to celebrate “football, family, food, music, and shopping.” Everyone with a free Amazon account will be able to watch, but get ready to see shoppable ads during the show.

“Throughout the livestream, Black Friday Football viewers will be presented with special opportunities to shop special deals and limited quantity product drops from brands like TCL, Dyson, LEGO, and Nintendo and access all Amazon’s Black Friday deals from the comfort of their living room. Be sure to keep an eye out for exciting deals appearing on the screen as you watch, with new deals available each quarter during the game, as well as before kickoff and after the game ends,” the company said today.

Back in 2021, Amazon struck an 11-year agreement with the NFL to stream Thursday Night Football on Prime Video in the US. The show includes 16 regular-season games and one preseason game per year. In September 2022, Amazon claimed that its first exclusive TNF game had an average 15.3 million viewers, which represented “more viewers than any other program on broadcast or cable Thursday night.”

Black Friday is definitely a huge moment for Amazon, and these shoppable ads during this week’s NFL Black Friday Game are a big opportunity for Amazon to increase its sales. Speaking with The Wall Street Journal, Mike Hopkins, senior vice president of Prime Video, emphasized that there will be exclusive deals “you will have to be watching to know about.”

Amazon’s Black Friday Game festivities will kick off at 1:30 PM EST with a pregame show, and the game that will kick off at 3 PM will be followed by an Amazon Music Live (AML) special concert featuring Garth Brooks. The ad-supported event will be streamed in the Prime Video app, Amazon’s website, and Twitch.

While Amazon will be experimenting with shoppable ads for this first-ever NFL Black Friday game, video ads are also coming to Prime Video in early 2024. Amazon Prime subscribers will need to pay an extra $2.99/month to get an ad-free experience on the video platform.
