Amazon Introduces New Alexa for Shopping Experience on its Website and Mobile App

Amazon Alexa for shopping

Amazon is introducing a new agentic shopping experience on its website and mobile app called Alexa for shopping. The new AI-powered experience leverages the company’s next-gen Alexa+ assistant and its existing Rufus shopping assistant, and it’s launching first in the US.

“Alexa for Shopping is like having an expert personal shopper who already knows you and remembers your preferences, your past purchases, and your conversations, and carries that knowledge and understanding of you across your phone, laptop, and Echo devices,” said Rajiv Mehta, vice president of Conversational Shopping at Amazon. “Whether you’re comparing products, tracking a price drop, or continuing research you started yesterday, you don’t have to start over.”

Alexa for shopping is free to use on the Amazon website, the mobile app, and Echo Show devices. It’s available right from the Amazon search bar, where US users can ask the assistant to find the best products for their needs, compare different products, track prices, and more. Alexa for shopping can also learn from previous conversations and past purchases to personalize its recommendations.

Just like Google Search, Alexa for Shopping can display AI overviews at the top of search results in the mobile app. AI overviews already appear on some product detail pages, and they’re now rolling out to all Amazon shoppers in the US.

In addition to shopping recommendations and price tracking capabilities, Alexa for shopping can automatically purchase items for you at a set price. This also works with products from other stores across the web that integrate with the Shop Direct feature Amazon launched last year.

Lastly, Amazon announced today that it has made the full Amazon shopping experience available on Echo Show smart displays. “For the first time, you can browse, search, and shop the full Amazon store right on your device and navigate entirely by voice, touch, or both, with Alexa as your guide,” the company said today.
