Apple’s New iPads and M3 MacBook Air Are Reportedly Coming Early Next Year

After 2023 was the first year where Apple didn’t release a single new iPad model, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman is reporting that new iPad Air and iPad Pro models are coming early next year. Moreover, Apple is also planning to launch a bigger 12.9-inch iPad Air to complement the existing 10.9-inch version.

“This approach mirrors Apple’s strategy with the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro,” Gurman emphasized. While Apple introduced a new M2-powered 15-inch MacBook Air earlier this year, the MacBook Air lineup is also expected to be refreshed with M3 chips early next year.

Apple’s M3 chip first made its debut in the new MacBook Pro models released in November. The faster chip is also expected to power Apple’s refreshed iPad Pro lineup, which is expected to launch alongside the company’s two new iPad Air models.

To better differentiate the iPad Air and the iPad Pro, Apple will reportedly introduce new OLED screens on its upcoming iPad Pro models. OLED screens have been shipping on iPhones since 2017, and they offer a wider color range and lower power consumption. For people who use iPad Pros for photo/video editing or media consumption, these new OLED screens may be a good incentive to upgrade.

According to Gurman, new Apple accessories are also on the way, including a third-gen Apple Pencil. Lastly, the report mentions that new Magic Keyboards that will make the iPad Pro work better as a laptop are also on the way.
