AirPlay Hotel Support Comes to Select IHG Hotels & Resorts Properties

Apple announced today that more than 60 properties from IGH Hotels & Resorts now let guests use AirPlay to stream content on compatible LG hotel TVs. This is thanks to AirPlay hotel support, a new feature Apple announced last year but only rolled out with iOS 17.3 back in January.

AirPlay hotel support lets hotel guests stream content from an iPhone or iPad directly to the TV in the room. There are already lots of AirPlay-enabled smart TVs from Samsung, LG, Sony, and Vizio on the market, but AirPlay hotel support streamlines the sharing experience with a QR code that’s unique to the hotel room.

“Users can automatically connect to the compatible LG hotel TV in their guest room and the hotel’s Wi-Fi network by scanning a unique QR code on the screen,” Apple explained today. “Once connected, guests can share almost anything on the big screen in their hotel room directly from their iPhone or iPad. Guests can also pair multiple devices to the TV, so friends and loved ones traveling together can also enjoy.”

AirPlay hotel support also guarantees user privacy by automatically deleting the connection between Apple devices and TVs after guests check out from eligible hotel rooms. That guarantees that hotel staff and future guests won’t see what’s been shared with the TV via AirPlay.

The IHG Hotels & Resorts group Apple is partnering with owns various hotel brands across North America including Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, Hotel Indigo, Candlewood Suites, and InterContinental Hotels & Resorts. You can find properties that support AirPlay on this page.
