Apple released yesterday iOS 18.0.1, iPadOS 18.0.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.0.1 to fix various issues in its annual software updates released last month. With iPadOS 18.0.1, Apple is also resuming the rollout of iPadOS 18 on its latest M4 iPad Pro models after the company paused it to investigate bricking issues.
With iOS 18.0.1 and iPadOS 18.0.1, Apple fixed an issue causing its Messages app to unexpectedly quit when replying to a message with a shared Apple Watch face. The update also addresses performance issues related to memory allocation on some iPhone and iPad models.
On the security side, the two updates also prevent the Messages app to record a few seconds of audio before the microphone indicator is activated. Apple also fixed an issue in its Passwords that could allow users’ saved passwords to be read aloud by VoiceOver
For iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro owners, iOS 18.0.1 also fixes an issue causing the touch screen to become unresponsive in certain circumstances. The update also fixes a camera freeze issue when recording macro mode video on the Ultra Wide camera in 4K with HDR turned off on iPhone 16 Pro models.
For Mac users, macOS Sequoia 15.0.1 fixes the same Messages issue I mentioned earlier. The release notes also mention an “improved compatibility with third-party security software” without giving any more details.
