It’s official, the 2025 edition of Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will kick off on June 9. Apple is expected to reveal iOS 19, iPadOS 19, watchOS 12, macOS 16, and other annual updates for its main software platforms during the introductory keynote.
As usual, Apple will have an in-person event for students and developers at its Apple Park, and all WWDC25 sessions will be free to all developers. “We’re excited to mark another incredible year of WWDC with our global developer community,” said Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. “We can’t wait to share the latest tools and technologies that will empower developers and help them continue to innovate.”
With Apple delaying much-anticipated Siri updates to “the coming year,” the company now needs to be careful about not announcing new features before they’re fully baked. Apple Intelligence was a big focus of Apple’s WWDC keynote last year, but it’s safe to say the generative AI features didn’t really live up to expectations.
A recent report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman hinted at a “dramatic software overhaul” for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS this year, with various visual upgrades inspired by visionOS, the operating system that powers the Apple Vision Pro. Whether that will be enough to mask Apple’s lateness on generative AI features remains to be seen.
