Apple iPad lineup

Apple announced today that it’s expanding its Self Service Repair program to the iPad. Starting tomorrow, May 29, iPad owners in 33 supported countries will be able to get genuine repair parts including displays, batteries, cameras, and external charging ports for the iPad Air (M2 and later), iPad Pro (M4), iPad mini (A17 Pro), and the latest entry-level iPad with an A16 chip.

The company’s Self Service Repair program also provides access to repair manuals, tools, rental toolkits, and Apple Diagnostics troubleshooting sessions. Overall, iPad users will get access to the same tools and parts used at Apple Store locations and Apple Authorized Service Providers.

“With the addition of iPad, the Self Service Repair Store now supports 65 Apple products, including the recently released iPhone 16e, MacBook Air, and Mac Studio. This summer, Canada will become the 34th country in which Apple offers Self Service Repair,” the company said today.

Apple originally launched its Self Service Repair program back in 2022. In the same year, Google also teamed up with iFixit to offer Pixel repair parts, and Microsoft followed a year later with replacement components for Surface devices. This is ingreat way to allow consumers who are comfortable with completing their own repairs to extend the life of products that are out of warranty.
