Meta’s Threads App Makes Reposts More Visible

Meta's new Threads service

Meta has started rolling out two updates to make reposts more visible in Threads, the company’s new Twitter clone. Reposts are the equivalent of what we used to call “retweets” on Twitter/X, which happen when users repost a message from another person to share it with their followers.

The first change detailed by Instagram boss Adam Mosseri on Threads is a new Reposts tab on personal profiles. This will allow Threads users to easily find any posts that they’ve reposted all in one place.

The second change that’s now rolling out on Threads is the app now showing reposts in users’ Following feeds. Mosserri said that this change was based on user feedback, and this should definitely help to make the new chronological Following feed look and work more like the one on Twitter/X.

Last week, Threads also copied two other features from its rival, the ability to see all the posts you’ve liked from your profile, as well as support for custom alt-text for images and videos. What’s still really missing on Threads is a full-featured web app to use on the desktop. According to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, this is apparently coming soon, but it should really be a top priority to keep users engaged throughout the day.

Unfortunately, Threads still isn’t available in the EU, and we still don’t know if and when Meta will be able to release its Twitter clone in that region.
