Dropbox Launches Redesigned Web App and Expands Access to New AI Features

Dropbox AI

Dropbox announced several new products today including a redesigned web app, a new video collaboration tool, as well as an expansion of the new AI features the company introduced in June. Dropbox is also launching three new plans for commercial customers today starting at $22/month.

First of all, a redesigned web experience is rolling out to select customers starting today, and it will become generally available in the coming months. The new web app features an updated left navigation bar with an expandable folder tree and quick access to important tasks such as PDF signatures. Files previews have also been redesigned, and a new action bar at the top of the page should make it easier to manage files and even record your screen.

Dropbox AI, which is currently in alpha, is rolling out to more customers today. This feature can summarize text-based files as well as audio and video content, and it can also help users find relevant content through the Dropbox search bar using natural language. “Search results also come with a short summary of each file, so you can find what you’re looking for faster,” the Dropbox team emphasized today.

Dropbox Dash, the new AI-powered universal search that the company also announced back in June is launching in open beta today. Dash is a standalone app, and it can search for information across various apps and services you use including Google Workspace, Outlook, Salesforce, Notion, and many other apps. Users can also organize URLs into smart collections called “Stacks”. Dropbox Dash is currently only available in English, and you can sign up for the open beta on this page.

Dropbox Studio, a new video collaboration tool that lets users record, edit, and publish videos will also launch in alpha in the coming weeks. The Dropbox team explained that the app will have AI-powered editing capabilities, allowing users to easily remove filler words and frames by just deleting words and sentences in the transcript. A waitlist for this new app is also available on this page.

Lastly, Dropbox is revamping its plans for commercial customers today. The new Dropbox Essential plan starts at $22/month (or $18/month if billed annually), and it offers 3TB of storage, PDF editing, as well as the ability to collect eSignatures and track analytics on shared documents. The Dropbox for Business ($24/month) and Dropbox Business Plus ($32/month) add additional features including external sharing controls and reporting, the ability to transfer bigger files, and more. Dropbox said that customers on its existing plans will be upgraded to the new web app in the coming months with at no additional cost.
